Leading Others Starts with Putting Yourself First
When I first became a manager, I was so focused on being present for my team while juggling the needs of my young family. Most days, it felt like I was burning my candle at both ends—and failing at both.
My breakthrough came when I realised that putting myself first wasn’t selfish. It was the start of building the resilience and presence I needed to show up fully for everyone else.
Over the past weeks, I’ve shared reflections on:
✨ Why self-care is survival, not indulgence (Oxygen Mask First)
✨ Why boundaries are guardrails that protect us from toxic people (Boundaries Are Self-Respect, Not Selfishness)
✨ Why “No” can be a complete sentence—and an act of self-respect (Every Yes Has a Cost — Learning the Power of No)
Together, these lessons shaped one truth for me: self-leadership is the foundation of leading others.
When leaders neglect themselves, burnout is contagious. When leaders model balance, clarity, and courage, it gives their teams permission to do the same.
👉 I’d love to hear: what practices help you sustain yourself so you can sustain others?
