🌱 Why Imposter Syndrome Keeps Us From Growing Others

When I was still an analyst, I sometimes wondered if I was “good enough” to be in the room. I hadn’t managed anyone. I was still learning the ropes myself. That nagging voice often whispered: “Who are you to guide someone else?”

But then younger or newer analysts started turning to me with questions. I hesitated at first, but I found the courage to share what I knew—even if I wasn’t perfect, even if I was still learning myself.

What surprised me was how much I enjoyed it. I discovered that I liked mentoring, and more than that—I was actually good at it. That shift opened the door to leadership roles and, eventually, to becoming a coach.

Here’s the trap of imposter syndrome: it doesn’t just hold us back, it holds back others too. When we downplay ourselves, we withhold our guidance, and our teams lose out on growth.

You don’t have to be flawless to help someone else. You just need to be a step or two ahead and willing to share the path.

So as you reflect on your year, consider this:
✨ Where are you holding back from helping others because you doubt yourself?
✨ What if the very act of mentoring is what unlocks your growth too?

Because leadership often begins not with a title, but with the courage to share what you already know.
